The Easternmost Point of Vietnam, also known as Mui Dien (Mui Dai Lanh), in Phu Yen province, is an attractive destination for those who love to explore and conquer. This place is not only the first point of the country, the place to welcome the first sunrise on land, but also possesses the wild, majestic beauty of the sea and mountains. This article will give you an in-depth look at the Easternmost point of Vietnam, from preparation, travel to memorable experiences.

1. Prepare for the Trip

A successful trip always starts with careful preparation. For the Far East, you should note the following:

  • Time: The best time to visit the Far East is from March to August. At this time, the weather is dry, with little rain, making it convenient for traveling and sightseeing. Avoid going during the rainy season (from September to December) because the roads can be slippery and dangerous.
  • Health: The journey to conquer the East Pole requires good health. Make sure you are healthy enough to climb mountains, hike long distances and adapt to weather conditions.
  • Clothing: Wear comfortable, sweat-wicking clothing. A light jacket, hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen are essential. Hiking boots or sneakers with good traction will help you move more easily on mountainous terrain.
  • Personal items: Don't forget to bring personal items such as medicine, toiletries, and a camera to capture beautiful moments.
  • Identification: National ID or passport is required. If you intend to rent a car, bring your driver's license.

2. Move to the Far East

To get to the Far East, you can choose one of the following means:

  • Plane: Tuy Hoa Airport is the closest airport to the Easternmost point. From here, you can rent a motorbike or taxi to travel to Mui Dien.
  • Train: Tuy Hoa Station is also a convenient option. After getting off the train, you can use a motorbike or taxi to get to the starting point.
  • Bus: There are many bus routes from major cities to Tuy Hoa. However, the travel time will be longer than by plane or train.

When you arrive in Tuy Hoa, you have two options to get to Mui Dien:

  • Rent a motorbike: This is the most popular means of transport, allowing you to freely explore the beautiful coastal route. Motorbike rental prices range from 120,000 - 150,000 VND/day.
  • Hire a taxi or motorbike taxi: If you are not confident driving a motorbike, a taxi or motorbike taxi is a safer and more comfortable option.

From Tuy Hoa, follow National Highway 1A to the South for about 35km, then turn right onto DT643. Continue straight for about 12km to reach Bai Mon, the starting point to conquer Mui Dien.

3. Conquering Mui Dien and Experience

There are two ways to get to Mui Dien:

  • Walking: This is the most popular way, you will walk along the trail leading to the lighthouse. The distance is about 1km, with many steps and slopes. Although it is a bit tiring, in return, you will admire the majestic natural beauty along the way.
  • Tram Rental: If you don’t want to walk, you can rent a tram to get closer to the lighthouse. However, you still have to walk a short distance to get to the top.

When you reach Mui Dien, you will admire Dai Lanh lighthouse, one of the oldest lighthouses in Vietnam. From here, you can look far away, admire the vast ocean, the white sand beaches and the mountains. In particular, do not miss the first sunrise on the mainland. The brilliant sunlight appears from the horizon, illuminating the whole space, creating an extremely magnificent scene.
